This November, Rundle Street-based tea room Curiositeas is hosting a paint and sip with a feminist twist: Lips & Sips, a sex education-themed workshop.

Curiositeas proprietor Shannaka Houghton is excited to host Lips & Sips on November 17, from 7pm to 9pm.

Houghton says the event is unique because “paint and sips are a popular thing to do, and having Lips & Sips as a paint and sip means that those topics that can sometimes be a little bit uncomfortable in a sex education class can be a little bit more fun to discuss”.

Lips & Sips will be run by Yes Please Collective, an Adelaide-based, women-led organisation that is empowering women through sex education.

Yes Please Collective co-founder, Cindy Chang, says the organisation is “passionate about the power of education and conversation to break stigma and shame, and allow women the confidence and understanding to be able to advocate for themselves”.

“We thought a paint and sip workshop is a familiar concept that could be utilised as a way to open conversation in a fun and safe space like Curiositeas,” she says.

“Our knowledgeable instructors will guide you through painting a vulva-inspired masterpiece, while providing fascinating insights into the female anatomy and empowering you with knowledge about the vulva and its diversity.”

Participants can choose between a selection of wines and tea-based non-alcoholic options, which come complimentary with the $50 ticket.

“Whether you’re attending solo or with friends, Lips & Sips promises to be an engaging and entertaining evening filled with laughter, learning and artistic expression,” Chang says.

“Don’t miss out on this one-of-a-kind event that will leave you feeling inspired and enlightened.” For tickets and more information, visit: www.eventbrite.com.au/lips-and-sips
