If you’re a lover of the Britpop revival in 2025, UniBar has got you covered.
Cool Brittania is a Brisbane-based band dedicated to Britain’s rock music scene throughout the 1990s.
Britpop is a musical and cultural movement influenced by British pop music of the 1960s and 1970s paired with lyrics and commentary on British society.
The genre is defined by iconic bands such as Blur, Oasis, Pulp and Supergrass.
The cover band will be joined by the Aurora String Symphony Quartet for an all-ages gig.

Adelaide local Sofia Menguita will be performing at UniBar with The Hazys and The Mondays.
The indie pop singer has performed at Womad and ranked at 93 in 2024’s Sickest 100: a countdown dedicated to Adelaide’s best local musicians.

Get some practice two-stepping in the mosh pit when American emo band The Used fly into Adelaide for the Australian leg of their 25 Year Anniversary Tour.
The band’s last foray into Adelaide was eight years ago — they don’t come here often! Make sure you don’t miss out.

Visual arts of all types
Palace Nova will be hosting an advanced preview and filmmaker Q&A session for the local feature film, Kangaroo Island.
This dramady follows a struggling actress as she returns to her home of Kangaroo Island after a love triangle tore her family apart.
Before the screening, ABC Radio Adelaide’s Deb Tribe, director Timothy David and writer Sally Gifford will discuss the film.
The screening will be held at Palace Nova Eastend on August 12 at 6pm.

For our visual art enthusiasts, the South Australian Living Artists (SALA) festival will be holding an array of events across the state.
On The Record’s pick is the Adelaide Hills to Karoonda Silos Bus Tour.
The tour includes artist OAKEY guiding you through various exhibitions in the region, a delicious lunch at Ondeen Farm, artist talk and demonstration with Nicole Black, and the outstanding sight of projection art at Karoonda Silos.
This unmissable experience is an all-day event on Saturday, August 9.

My Dead Grandpa will be holding a vintage warehouse takeover with over 900 square metres of second-hand record goodness.
With over 20 different vinyl dealers, you’ll be bound to find your favourite old school classic LPs and EPs.
The market will take place on August 17 from 11am to 4:30pm on Ranelagh Street in the CBD.
Summertown Studio will be holding the weekly fifty quiz with woodfired oven pizza at their cosy local bar.
The Somerton Park café and bar is perfect for those who are looking to test their trivia knowledge without the pub essence.

Adelaide’s foodies are lucky — $1 oysters are back at The Kitchen.
For the whole of August, North Terrace restaurant will be serving up oysters from 5pm to 6pm.
