Festivals

The state-wide Tasting Australia festival is set to wine and dine local foodies from May 8 to 17.

Hosted by the experiential tourism group Journey Beyond, the festival aims to bring people together through local dishes and the shared dining experience.

Long lunches, tastings and cooking collaborations will take place and showcase the local hospitality industry over what is to be a jam-packed 10 days.

Program tickets can be purchased here and are filtered by price and location, catering to everyone.

Fundraising

Set in the heart of Adelaide City at Victoria Park, the annual Wings for Life World Run will take place on Sunday, May 10.

Hosted by Red Bull, all donations and entry fees go directly towards spinal cord research projects.

It is a global run, with all participating countries and cities starting the race simultaneously; in Adelaide, it starts at 8:30pm ACST.

Unlike other races, it does not end by crossing a finish line, rather all participants are racing against the Virtual Catcher car; a vehicle that gradually increases its speed until all athletes have been passed.

Gigs

For the first time in four years, Guy Sebastian is returning to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Monday, May 11 for an all-ages concert.

Even though the Australian singer-songwriter is back in SA to celebrate his new album 100 Times Around the Sun, fans can expect to be transported back in time with his performances of “Battle Scars” and “Choir”.

Remaining tickets for the show can be purchased here but get in quick — it’s not every day Guy Sebastian is here!

Culture and crafts

North Adelaide’s Melbourne Street is hosting its biannual Meander Market on Saturday, May 9 from 10am to 3pm.

Whether you’re shopping for a last-minute Mother’s Day present or just in need of a coffee, these markets are the ideal weekend outing for anyone.

There will be free face painting and caricature drawing for the kids and a photobooth available to capture the experience!

In between local pub feeds and handmade artisan homewares, market-goers can also enter into the draw to win a Nicholls Fine Jewellery gold bracelet on the day.

So, bring along your mum, family and furry friend and spend a leisurely Saturday morning together.

The Oz Comic Con returns to the Adelaide Showgrounds from May 30 to 31 for a weekend filled with cosplay and creativity.

Ticket holders have the opportunity to register for lip sync battles and live performances or, if the spotlight is not your style, engage in trading posts and meet and greets.

Canadian actor and Avatar: The Last Airbender star Gordon Cormier has been announced as one of the event’s special guests.
